Meditation

Meditation is spiritual practice that can be truly transformational on many levels - and wonderfully, introducing it into your life may not be as difficult as you may imagine.

At its most straightforward, meditation can be simply a case of taking time to sit down somewhere quietly, breathing evenly and allowing your mind to clear of all thoughts.

This uncomplicated exercise will bring a sense of relaxation to the mind, body and spirit and many benefits to your life as a result. This can be the case even if you meditate only for a short period of time every day - sometimes as little as ten minutes twice a day.

Expanding your practice
Should you have more time available then the practice can be expanded. You can meditate in your own way, or you can use a method passed on to you by someone else. A popular way of working is to use a 'guided meditation' or a 'visualisation'. This is almost like having a story told to you and you are asked to imagine yourself in a specific scenario where the meditation will take place. This can be especially helpful for the beginner.

It should be stressed that, contrary to some beliefs, once you decide to embark upon meditation practice you can be very flexible. With a little discipline you should be able to meditate wherever and whenever you chose. It is quite possible to meditate whilst walking for example - especially when in beautiful surroundings. So although it may be desirable to have a very specific routine for your mediation and a dedicated room or space, this is not absolutely necessary and you need not think you cannot meditate if you are unable to arrange this.

What happens
In order to be able to meditate however, you do need to be able to make a connection to the higher aspects of yourself - to your soul and spirit and to any of your spirit guides, guardian angels and other helpers. To be able to do this you will raise your consciousness to a higher level so as to become more sensitive to these higher aspects.

Once you feel you have achieved this connection, you will be able to communicate with these higher energies. Through this communication which often brings much clarity and new perspectives, you have to opportunity to consider various aspects of your life, ask questions and receive true guidance. This can help you to consolidate many of these aspects, understand where you are in your journey and make progress along your spiritual path.

Benefits
Meditation is a discipline suitable for everyone of any age bringing benefits to all who practise it.

It is portable, adaptable and unobtrusive.

It provides an oasis of calm during the rush of the day wherein you can relax and take stock and de-stress. The ability to connect to higher vibrations, communicate with spirit and receive trusted guidance can be very empowering and supportive. With this there often comes a greater confidence of being able to cope with the ups and downs of everyday life. The associated health benefits of feeling less stressed, more relaxed and empowered are evident and well-documented.

Children
Meditation can also be very useful to children - especially when a visualisation or guided meditation is used. Children respond very well to being told a 'story' and are often very visual and make strong and amazing connections.

The benefits can be very quickly apparent - often with the child expressing his or herself with speed and clarity about any underlying problems.

Meditation can be practised alone* or in a group. If you are interested in setting up a circle or if you would like individual guidance please contact me.
